Novominsker Rebbe takes on the bloggers and those who look at others

Novominker Rebbe agudah convention
At the Motzei Shabbos keynote address of the 2014 Agudah convention the Novominsker Rebbe spoke passionately about the areas that need work: alleviating the shidduch crisis, fighting the "new plague of open Orthodoxy" and anonymous critics who deride talmidei chachamim. There are many self-appointed meivinim among us unfortunately ready to sound off on anything and everything. These meivinim have no compunctions about opinionating about whatever goes on in the Jewish world and the Torah world especially. And very often, as a result of that curse of technology called the blogs, they engage in cynicism and zilzul talmidei chachomim and downright chutzpah For Audio of the rebbes remarks click HERE
The Rebbe pointed out those who make it their mission to look at what is going on by others, putting them down and commenting on them in a derogatory way specifically the bloggers. We must curb the urge to opinionate and comment. The Rebbe said over from Rav Mendel Weiss Z'L (known to many as Mendel the Coat Rack) He was a unique Yid who many people got to knew from his visits to various, shuls and yeshivos in Boro park and Flatbush. Reb Mendel said a profound statement  about the concept of  הוכח תוכיח את עמיתיך rebuking another Yid. He asked why does one even have to look at yenem. The Rebbe went on to say, how do we expect to raise the next generation when all they see is people siting back commenting and putting down others. The Rebbe, also spoke out strongly against those who go to Har Habayis, saying that they are directly responsible for bloodshed in Israel.  The Rebbe said that going up onto Har Habayis is a clear violation of the psak of Halacha and gedolei hador. Rabbi Perlow also said that these actions incite the Arabs to engage in acts of violence. The Rebbe sternly  warned “Stay off Har Habayis, do not generate redifa on yidden.”

  1. It's not a CLEAR violation of halacha. Can someone exlain the Arab violence , then Nasser's war of attrition, then prep for war in 1967 when Israel had no access to old Jerusalem, much less the Har Habayis for 19 years?

  2. as a blogger I agree to stop my blog's attacks on agudah provided agudah stops promoting avodah zarah, giloy arayus, and shifchas damim, and start advocating against avodah zarah, giloy arayus, and shifchas damim.

the fact that aguda$ Yi$orail sold the Torah out, even on the day of the convention by not fighting an assisted suicide bill, shows that the blogs are necessary and fall under the geder of toeles

If agudah agrees to these conditions and follows them enough that I trust they will continue to do so with out my blog I will stop the blog's attacks on aguda$ Yi$orail

    1. You highlight the Rebbe's point well !
Rav Hutner once said, "of course Gedolim make mistakes-in the same way Einstein would make mistakes-but are the one that would catch it"?! And I add, even if you sensed a mistake, you probably would not have the courage to publicize it for fear that you were wrong and would be deemed a fool for thinking that little you caught Einstein...

  3. There's no such word as "opinionate". A writer's one umnus (craft) should be the English language. It's a chillul Hashem when frum writers, so frequently, don't know their own language well; to the point that they make up words, and publish them publicly. (The word that this writer meant was "opine".)

  5. Opinionating
When a person spends an inordinate amount of time expressing his opinion regarding an issue.
Steve spends most of his day opinionating on the presidential elections.
