  1. Perhaps you have read many of her columns over the years but I have not. I understand that she is some sort of sex therapist. Is that what makes her a "menuveles?" If so, I'm not sure I understand. There are ehrlich bnei Torah who also specialize in that type of therapy, who greatly help people. If there's something else that's not part and parcel of someone helping others with sexual related issues, please let your readership know. Thanks.

    1. Thex Therapist Theeks Thympathy.

I suppose it is possible that not all the panelists were aware of who else is coming, although by now they should know.

  2. There should be similar protest and outrage to a post on the "Daas Torah" blog, which posted a video of a secular Jewish woman giving a detailed "lesson" on how to improve marital relationships through intimacy, etc. Such a topic should not even be discussed in a public forum, and on top of that they have a SECULAR Jewish woman teaching this subject?!? And they call themselves "Daas Torah"?! They are creating a mich'shol for the rabbim.

  4. There is a very unhealthy cultural approach to sexuality within the Orthodox community, period. This is notion not lost on a number of rabbonim, from what I've gathered.
What's your problem? I don't think children will be asked to join in the panel discussions over Shabbos, so what's the matter? Long gone are the days of 'ain dor'shin arayos elah b'fnei shloshim' (if I got the quote right). There's such an unhealthy empahsis placed on the 'dirty' and 'private' facets of human sexuality that so many couples are struggling in their marriage because of it.

    1. Anyone who takes to TV and is open and graphic about the subject is an embarrassment to the Torah. This topic is not for the public airwaves.. theres got to be a level of discreetness

    2. How should the subject be treated then, on a macro level? Sexual dysfunction has become a major problem in Jewish marriages and may be a factor in many divorces, like it or not. Keeping things "private" and "discreet" may not raise awareness of this issue enough to encourage couples to seek discreet therapy.
As far as Dr. Ruth, yes, she has been public about this. But if there's a public need for awareness, how can you not be open and graphic about it? How else would you talk about the subject so that those needing to hear it understand the issues and solutions? Times change, buddy.

    3. Moot point, BTW. I checked the website - looks like Dr Ruth's been taken off the list of attendees.

    1. Its a very good question. You would have to ask the Rabbonim involved.
