American Roshei Yeshiva and Gedolim call for Atzeres tefillah in response to Shaked committee decision on Giyus bnei yeshivos.

Atzeres in Lower Manhattan March 9th  HERE
Following the call of Harav Aaron Leib Shteinman in Eretz Yisrael  for an atzeres tefilla, the Torah world in America will unite as well  in response to the Shaked Committee decision. The committee is moving ahead with criminal sanctions in the new draft law, declaring anyone who fails to comply with the draft law will be classified as a criminal for his determination to continue learning.

Ther Satmar Rebbe who is currently in Eretz yisrael said the its time for all  Charedi factions to unite and declare war on the draft law. We will go out with a milchemes hakodesh said the Rebbe. Plans are to hold events that will coincide with the Million man Atzeres/ hafganah in Eretz yisrael. It will not be in form of a protest but more of a gathering for Tefillah.

  1. The Gedolim will be attending the Rechnitz chasunah hopefully they can all meet and issue a joint letter.

  2. When the "Torah world" of America chooses to fulfill the mitzva of yishuv ha'aretz, then they can have an opinion. Until such time, what goes on in E"Y is none of their business.

  3. Let Rechnitz decide on his own.

And if they do move to EY they will be given the right to an opinion?Of course not. They'll just be threatened with jail time for Limud H"Torah. So why would they consider it?

  5. Although I believe that there is a necessity for reforms in the gius situation, and it was stated that the Haredi Knesset members had agreed that those who are not seriously studying Torah full time should do some sort of service and then go to work, I believe that Lapid's demagogic demand for criminal sanctions is a disaster This will simply strengthen the extremists, however, we should all understand that the law will never be implemented. It is not even meant to go into effect until 2017 which will be after the next elections.
Thus, everyone should keep a cool head and not let the extremists exploit this in order to cause a terrible division in Am Israel.

    1. I think it's a political thing for Lapid. He campaigned as the guy who was going to make the Charedim share the same burden as everyone else, and by golly he will deliver it. If, as a practical matter, his stance makes it far less liely to actually be implemented, well that's not his problem - he got a strong law passed! And, as you note, the next elections take place before this becomes apparent anyway.

  6. After decades of spiritually-annihilating once glorious jewish-diaspora communities from around the world, the zionist cult has turned its claws to those who have until now escaped their clutches (and those who have returned to their roots).
High time for a United Torah-true front against the Zionist Bulldozer!
