In just over a year we lost so many gedolim, a churban in our time, how do we fill the void?

The recent petirah of Rav Elyashiv Zatzal  has left Klal yisroel with a tremendous void. It is brought down that the loss of a gadol is like the loss of the bais hamikdosh. Thinking back over the last year or so, we've lost so many leaders, gedolim and Roshei yeshiva. Its scary to think about the void this has left us and how much more protection we need from hashem. Since last year we've lost gedolim both in EY and Chutz La'aretz.,

Rav chaim stein  ZT'L

Rav kuppelman ZT'L

Rav Michel yehuda Lefkowitz ZT'L

Rav Leib Heiman  ZT'L

Rav Dov Schwartzman  ZT'L

Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel  ZT'L

Rav Chaim Pinchos Scheinberg ZT'L

Rav Eizak Ausband ZT'L

Rav Simcha shustal ZT'L

Viznitz Rebbe ZT"L

Rav Elyashiv ZT'L

and many young talmidei Chachomim who were taken from us in their prime. The gemara says, Every generation that does not build the Bais HaMikdash it is as if they destroyed it. Since that doesn't seem to move us, often Hashem actually brings a Churban equal to that of the Churban Bais HaMikdash. We are living a a dangerous time with the Matzav in EY and many tzaros that yidden are going through. Let us  cry out to hashem and be mechazek our emunah be mechazek in Torah and Chesed and be zoche this Tisha B'av to the geula shleima.

  1. Alamanderer says
In the 1939 also all the gedolim were niftar before the war. Before the mabul as well.
The Torah is now being 'destroyed' from within. Instead of mourning our great loss they are doing the opposite. We have no one anymore like R Avuhu to speak against the minim. It says that because of that they will also die. They of course dont believe that and are going even ahead with more steam. Everyone is powerless against them. The klal yisroel is in a great state of danger from within. The mockery made of R Elyashiv by so called orthodox Jews cries to the heavens. Apart from the fact that there is a cherem to speak ill of the dead whoever they are. One has plenty to weep about this Tisha b'av about the churban in our time. How can one expect him to be mailits yosher for us if this is how we treat him. We need to wake up and see what is going on around us. His death has certainly been that. But thats not enough, something also has to be done about it. The aguda siyum would be the right place, but will it be, I dont have much hope.

  2. In 1985-1987, we lost the Manhigei Hador, The Steipler, Rav Moshe Feinstein, Rav Yaakov Kaminetzky and Rav Y. Y. Ruderman Zichronom LeVracha. We didn't experience any great tragedy in the days/years that followed; hopefully we won't see any such tragedy in our day.

Yet we can all help fill the void by curtailing our blogging activity and better spend the time in the Bais Medrash.

"Become a Gadol yourself"! is what my Rosh Yeshiva told me when I told him I want to go to Eretz Yisroel to "see the Gedolim".
